In such times of extraordinary stress, change, and uncertainty, how do we keep our balance—physically, mentally and emotionally? How do we find ways of responding with wisdom and care to the challenges and demands around and within us? As a way of building on and extending your yoga training, Prajna Yoga’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course offers skillful means of working with patterns of thought, emotions, and stress reactivity that are no longer serving you, or are, perhaps, causing harm.

This internationally acclaimed, evidence-based course offers intensive and systematic training in mindfulness meditation and mindful movement, and in integrating course learnings into everyday life. Through practice, group inquiry and experiential education, we investigate obstacles to flexibility, balance, and the kind of internal resiliency that allows us to adapt skillfully to change.

Research over the past 40 years consistently shows that mindfulness practices result in significant short and long-term benefits, including increases in self-awareness, compassion, and emotion regulation, and reductions in anxiety, depression and chronic pain. It also demonstrates positive changes in risk factors that may lead to more serious chronic ailments.

The MBSR curriculum integrates trauma-informed guidelines that reflect current 'best practices' in the field. Whether you are a yoga teacher, a teacher in training or are involved in the fields of counseling, psychology or the healing arts, this course will support your own durable well-being and ease, as well as add depth and dimension to your work with others.

The crux of our investigation in MBSR is straightforward: we seek to minimize harm and maximize human flourishing. We welcome you to join us in exploring the ancient wisdom and modern scientific understanding of how we can meet the difficulties arising, without and within, in ways that foster our own capacities for sanity, clarity, and joyful freedom.

Janet Curry, MA, MSt

Janet is in private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher and Teacher Trainer. Her passion for contemplative practice began at age 16 when she took her first course in Transcendental Meditation at a community center in Missouri. Her subsequent discovery of the profound healing available through yoga in her early 20’s and, a decade later, mindfulness meditation, fuels her commitment to offering these practices to others.

Janet recently received her Master’s in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) from the University of Oxford in the U.K.. She has taught MBSR & MBCT in the Four Corners region for nearly 15 years, including at the Durango Cancer Center and in Telluride, CO. She offers presentations and workshops on mindfulness for increasing well-being, clarity, and joy, as well as Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness trainings to hospitals, cancer support organizations, and universities locally, nationally, and internationally.
